Our university has launched a significant production initiative, commencing in March 2025, to produce its own packaged roll bread for use in its canteens, social facilities and hospital. This initiative is noteworthy both for its contribution to the university budget and for the practical training opportunities it offers students.

1.25 Million Rolls of Bread Produced in 10 Months

During the 10-month production period that began in March 2025, our university produced a total of 1.25 million rolls of bread. Of this production, 390,000 units were used in canteens and social facilities affiliated with the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports, while 860,000 units were produced to meet the needs of the university hospital. These figures demonstrate that our university is largely able to meet its basic food needs with its own resources.

Contribution Exceeding 2 Million TL to the University Budget

If this amount of bread rolls had been procured from outside the university, it would have required an additional expenditure of approximately 2 million 62 thousand TL from the university budget over a 10-month period. By producing its own bread rolls, our university has achieved significant financial savings, thereby contributing to the effective and efficient use of public resources.

Adding Value to the State Budget

Among the numerous products manufactured in the TOGÜ Kitchen, the production of roll bread alone contributed significantly to the state budget during the 10-month period in question. This production model demonstrates that our university is not merely a service-oriented institution but also a productive entity that prioritises the public interest.

Practical Training Opportunities for Students

Furthermore, the production process offers an important educational opportunity for students studying at our university. Through the work carried out at TOGÜ Kitchen, students have the opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical training, gaining professional experience and preparing themselves more thoroughly for working life.

A Sustainable and Exemplary Model

Our university's production of its own bread rolls stands out as an exemplary practice that reduces costs, conserves public resources, contributes to students' practical education, and prioritises sustainability.
