In line with our university’s sustainability and resource efficiency objectives, a significant step has been taken under the leadership of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fatih Yılmaz: the “Advanced Recycling and Upcycling Workshop” has been established within the Tokat Vocational School and has commenced its activities.

The aim of this workshop is to subject fixed assets located in the university’s administrative units to maintenance, repair, restoration and re-evaluation processes before they are scrapped. In this context, furniture, computer towers and monitors, projectors, coat racks and similar fixed assets, as well as various machines, devices and equipment, are being examined for their potential for reuse.

As part of the workshop’s activities:

  • The technical condition of the materials is analysed in detail,
  • Repair and improvement options are assessed,
  • Equipment deemed suitable is returned to service.

To ensure these processes are carried out effectively, a team of technical staff, led by Ümit Çukurçayır, Secretary of the Vocational School, is systematically carrying out forward and reverse engineering work.

With the establishment of this workshop, the following objectives are targeted:

The effective use of university resources,

  • Achieving economic savings,
  • Reducing waste volumes

and a contribution is made towards an environmentally conscious and sustainable campus approach.
