A strategic collaboration has been launched between Tokat Vocational College and ASELSAN Sivas, one of Turkey’s leading organisations in the defence industry, which will add value to our students’ career journeys.
ASELSAN, which shapes Turkey’s strategic strength through the indigenous and national technologies it develops for the defence industry, ranks among the country’s most important technology organisations thanks to its high engineering capabilities, production capacity and commitment to a skilled workforce. Tokat Vocational College, on the other hand, aims to train the qualified technicians required by industry by bringing its students into contact with the world of work before they graduate, through its 3+1 Vocational Education Model centred on practical training, its robust laboratory infrastructure and its sector-focused approach to education. At the meeting, which brought together the two institutions sharing the same vision, strategic partnerships to be implemented across a wide range of areas—from education to employment—were discussed in detail.
The meeting was attended by Metin Oktay Tamer, Director of Corporate Development and Human Resources at ASELSAN Sivas, and Human Resources Specialist Rüveyda Muslu, whilst our Vocational School was represented by our Director, Dr Bekir Doğan, and our Deputy Directors, Lecturer Kemal Ergün and Dr Bilal Okan İçmez. Held in a cordial and productive atmosphere, the meeting addressed concrete steps and areas for joint work aimed at strengthening university-industry collaboration.
During the meeting, in particular, agreement was reached on launching initiatives to enable our students to undertake practical training and work placements at ASELSAN Sivas under the 3+1 Vocational Training Model; on guiding our students towards this sector throughout their education to facilitate the employment of our graduates in the defence industry, particularly at ASELSAN; on implementing joint project work to develop our students’ technical knowledge and skills; organising technical conferences, career talks and sector-specific seminars with the participation of ASELSAN experts, and planning technical visits where our students can observe production processes first-hand.
As Tokat Vocational College, our primary objective is not merely to graduate our students, but to nurture them into qualified individuals possessing the knowledge, skills and competence required to take on roles in our country’s strategic sectors, particularly the defence industry. We believe that this collaboration, initiated with ASELSAN Sivas, will offer our students new career opportunities, further strengthen university-industry collaboration, and make significant contributions to our country’s pool of qualified human resources.
